Marketing Committee
Minutes
25 March 2010

Members present: Kelly Caughlan, Fred Hebblewhite, Liz Sheahan; Bob Stack

Professional Guides
Fred Hebblewhite distributed a list of potential businesses to be included in the Professional guide and preliminary application material.

The application material was reviewed. It will be distributed via e-mail. It was recommended that a cover letter be prepared and the application be shortened.

There was a discussion about the Directory of Non-Profit organizations. Some last-minute groups were going to be added by Digicopy.

There was also a discussion regarding who was eligible for inclusion in the Directory. There were varying opinions, but there was a strong feeling that the Directory should focus on organizations with a Portage County address or at least groups that supply local services with a nearby address. It was felt that the Directory should focus on local groups that might not have the marketing strength and fund raising capability of a large national group.

PSAs
Liz Sheahan noted that she heard the PSA on the CW cable channel. The PSAs were distributed to the local television stations as well.

New Member Packet
The membership packet was reviewed.

It was recommended that the "purpose and organization structure" letter be updated as well as "welcome" letter. Liz Sheahan volunteered to work with Kathy Davies on this.

Some of the other material will be put on the web site (i.e. "benefits"; principles" and "membership commitment". Liz Sheahan will forward information to Bruce Beaman for the website.

Fiscal Procedures will be reviewed and approved at the next Steering Committee meeting.

April 27 Estate Planning Seminar
Tables can be reserved by contacting Amy Eddy at Anderson Law Firm.

Reminder to all to promote event in their own marketing materials.

Professional Advisors for Events/Seminars
Fred Hebblewhite wanted to know if other professional advisors could participate in the upcoming seminars. This would be up to Anderson, O'Brien, Bertz, Skrenes & Golla.

Marketing Committee
Minutes
28 January 2010

Present: Fred Hebblewhite, Liz Sheahan, Bob Stack, Bruce Beaman

Nonprofits Guide
Fred reported he, Kathy Davies and Kelly Caughlan are making follow-up calls to current and potential new members for the new edition of the NP guide.

DigiCopy will do the printing with an initial run of 1,000 copies in March.

Marcus Hammitt from the Community Foundation is doing the layout.

Size will be about the same as the last edition with similar format of two organizations per page in alphabetical order (there had been discussion in the past about organizing agencies into sections such as "Youth Services" etc., but we decided against it).

The cover will be new and publication date will be somewhere inside.

When the time comes we'll need to re-examine the distribution list.

Bruce will get Leave a Legacy and PPP logos to Marcus for inclusion.

Video PSA
Liz will check with the Wausau TV stations about running the PSA again.

Websites
There had been some prior discussion about dropping the plannedgivingwi.org site but we'll keep it (especially since it's on the PSA). Bruce will look into cheaper hosting (update on 29 January 2010: our hosting with godaddy.com won't expire until February of 2011; our two domain registrations have been renewed for another year).

Membership Packet
Liz will update the documents and when ready we'll post them on our Website.

Advisor Guide
We'll ask Marcus if he's willing to do the next edition, too.

Officers
Bob Stack is now Chair of the Marketing Committee; Bruce will continue as Secretary.

Next Meeting
Thursday, 25 March 2010, 1:30 p.m. at United Way.
