Members present:
Fred Hebblewhite, Todd Kuckkahn, Kelly Caughlan, Bruce Beaman, Terry Rothmann.
The meeting was called to order by Fred Hebblewhite, Chair.
There were no corrections or additions noted to the 19 June 2008 meeting minutes.
Treasurer's Report - Terry Rothmann
There is currently $5551.11 in the checking account.
Meeting Minutes
Kelly Caughlan will provide meeting minutes in a word document so Bruce Beaman can include them on the Website for all members to access as needed.
Database/Membership List
Bruce Beaman has agreed to take over managing the membership database and email list. Any changes or updates should be sent to him.
September Steering Meeting
Utilize Steering members to set goals and make plans for each of the task forces. Ask Steering members what their expectations are of being a member and what they see are benefits to being a member.
Kelly Caughlan will coordinate a speaker on the changes and new requirements for nonprofits who file a 990 tax form.
September Seminars
Tuesday, 23 September at 11:30 a.m. at the YMCA. Target audience: YMCA Active Older Adults. Presentation on the role of the professional advisor, the importance of estate planning and what is Planned Giving for Portage County. All members invited to attend and will be introduced.
Tuesday, 30 September at 6:00 p.m. at Memories in Plover. Practical Estate Planning Seminar. Nonprofits who wish to display should contact Bob Stack. Nonprofit must be an active PG for PC member. Todd Kuckkahn suggested that right before break each organization and their representative be introduced. Fred Hebblewhite also asked if cookies would be available at each of the booths.
Other Business
Educational Opportunity - It was agreed we should host an educational seminar for Steering members. Todd Kuckkahn will talk to Russ Howe, who is with the UW Foundation in Madison and also a past officer of the Wisconsin Planned Giving Council located in Madison. Todd will bring seminar topic ideas to the next meeting.
Marketing
It was discussed having a media blitz on planned giving and our group. Ideas included print ads and email signature tags, members promote PG for PC on their Websites, displaying guides, newspaper articles, etc. Open for discussion at next Steering.
Next Meeting
Steering - Thursday, 18 September at 11:30 a.m. at the United Way Community Room.
Guest Speaker to discuss changes and new requirements to the 990 Tax Form. Agenda items include setting goals for each committee, September seminars, October educational event with Russ Howe.
Executive - Thursday, 16 October at 11:30 a.m. at the United Way Community Room. All members invited to attend. Membership packets will be reviewed and updated.
